Origins
CIG was founded to provide the most appropriate business and technical solutions to complex problems in the financial services arena. In practice, this translated into providing clients with innovative designs and leading edge development techniques and support for middle and back office complete trading solutions. The firm’s initial assignments included the design and implementation of an MBS trade support system for a major international securities firm, which lead to the development of a full-featured front and mid-office trading system for debt and derivative products.
Growth
Building upon increasing knowledge of securities practices, financial software packages, and integration issues, CIG started to develop a strong array of management consulting services which included additional areas such as systems evaluation, systems integration, business process re-engineering (BPR), and vendor package software evaluations. CIG also entered the Risk Management arena with the installation of a market risk management system for a primary Government securities broker/dealer. This system employed industry standard quantitative techniques such as stress testing, VAR, RiskMetrics and Monte Carlo simulation. A credit risk management system was then designed, developed and implemented allowing a major on-line broker to monitor millions of positions and to provide real-time alerts when designated conditions were detected. Data Warehousing, from design through implementation and reporting, then become an area of expertise.
More Recent Initiatives
More recent initiatives include data acquisition and pricing efforts in the SubPrime market. As the credit crisis has unfolded, institutions require better information on what assets back asset backed securities in order to analyze both qualitatively and quantitatively the risks they undertake. CIG provided solutions provide an informational advantage to market participants in an increasingly complex environment.
Other initiatives include the incorporation of compliance and systems security. Compliance offerings encompass solutions for the reporting requirements that address the USA Patriot Act and SEC Rule 17a-4 for e-mail archiving and retrieval. Systems security services comprise a full spectrum of services from basic network penetration testing through to the development of comprehensive ongoing security plans that incorporate the latest technology and procedures. Consulting services include securities accounting, documentation and controls evaluation, with particular emphasis on Sarbanes-Oxley implications.
Apart from the above mentioned areas, CIG has extensive contacts with experts in virtually all aspects of the financial services industry. Whether your organization is large or small, CIG welcomes the opportunity to discuss with you the specific needs of your organization. People are what make a difference in business and this is the primary reason, we believe, which has made CIG a sought after source in the marketplace. |
